A Mealime alternative for deciding what’s for dinner

Mealime closes on 21 October 2026, so you may be hunting for something new. dinnerrr isn’t a recipe manager: it’s an iPhone app that helps your household decide what’s for dinner, then hands you off to a recipe, a delivery app or a reservation.

What you’ll find here

A vote, not a plan. Choose Cook, Order in or Go out, tap Start a round, and your household swipes Yep or Nope until one dinner wins. The Dinner Dice breaks ties.
A next step. Cook opens a recipe and a shopping list you can send from the share sheet. Order in opens the delivery app you picked: DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub. Go out opens a reservation or directions. The other app takes the order, not us.
A light week plan. Plan seven dinners and get a grocery list for the recipes you planned.
No accounts, and free through 2026. Your household shares through iCloud and votes on their own iPhones or in Messages, and there’s an Apple Watch app. Crews that start before 1 January 2027 are Founding Crews.

What you won’t

Your recipe collection. dinnerrr can’t import recipes and doesn’t keep your own. You can save a link or type in a dinner idea, but there’s no recipe box.
A full meal planner or grocery app. The grocery list covers recipes you plan in dinnerrr. A dinner you type in adds nothing to it, and there are no calorie counts or diet plans.
An Android app. dinnerrr is for iPhone and Apple Watch, in English, in the US and Canada.

Where to keep your recipes

If your recipes are what you’ll miss, these three are built to hold them, and dinnerrr can sit beside any of them for the “what are we having” part. Mealime has said its recipes are moving to Albertsons’ Meals Hub.

Paprika saves recipes from websites and adds meal plans and grocery lists.
Samsung Food saves and organizes recipes, plans meals and builds shopping lists.
Plan to Eat is a recipe organizer with a meal calendar and shopping lists.

How a dinner gets decided

Start a round. Check Cook, Order in, Go out, or all three, then tap Start a round.
Everyone swipes. Each person swipes Yep or Nope on a short deck. Pass one iPhone around, or send the round to your group chat. Votes stay secret.
Dinner gets decided. The dinner everyone can live with wins, and the Dinner Dice breaks ties. Then dinnerrr opens the next step: a recipe, a delivery app, or a reservation and directions.
